I’m so excited for this book to wander around in the world! It’s had a long, long journey. The ideas had been in my mind since 2017, but family health issues kept me from writing (I had no joy to use on books). The first time I posted about it here was November of 2020, when I completed a draft. After it was drafted, it sat on a desk for a year, then was in limbo for another eight months, then was lovingly acquired by a new agent. Then it was sold in the fall of 2022 to Little, Brown Young Readers!
The elevator pitch? Neurodivergent kids, the adults who fight them, and the adults who fight with them.
I swore to myself I’d never write a book with high school as a major setting, but here we are. My high school years were pretty sketchy, for a thousand different reasons, and I was NOT a fan. But I really did enjoy the twenty-first century version of high school–it’s more free and friendly. Kinda. But still not. : \
