Tourist Trap

man at Dinosaur Park, Rapid City, SD

TOURIST TRAP is the name of my YA novel out for review.  I don’t normally talk about books under submission, but I’ll give you an idea of where some of the action takes place, because it’s so unusual and I love it so much.  This is a picture of Dinosaur Park, high up on a hill in the middle of Rapid City, South Dakota.  Odd setting for a novel, yes?  Yes!  But that’s part of its charm (in my eyes, anyway).

If you want a great website about the park, click here.  It’s the website of the man in the photo, who goes by Minnesota Jones, and it’s almost a historical review of the park, partly through Minnesota Jones’ eyes and partly through historical photos.

The elevator pitch for the book (or what you’d say in an elevator if someone asked what your book’s about)?  Dead man + girl + dead friend + boy + dinosaurs = one very interesting summer.

You’ve just solved an age old mystery for me. When I was little (I was born in Minnesota and raised between there and then… everywhere), we visited a dinosaur park and I’ve never been able to figure out where it was. My parents couldn’t remember. I’m absolutely sure this is it!!! Yes. Thanks, Kirsten!
